Eastern Equatoria Deputy Governor called on state MPs during recess to sensitize communities in their constituencies to co-exist with their neighbours in peace.

Jerome Gama Surur told MPs on Monday to use the recess to educate the communities to live in peace, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He said peace should be extended also to foreigners living in the state.

Mr Gama condemned the practice of cattle raiding saying it also discourages communities from rearing chicken over fears of attracting conflict.

He said there was no glory in cattle raiding.

Mr Surur added that pastoral communities should be encouraged to keep animals with better economic value instead of the traditional types that do not fetch much money.

On Monday, Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi sent MPs into a 45-day recess.

The MPs are expected to resume Assembly duties on November 15.
