Heiban Hospital in Nuba Mountains is suffering from lack of medicines to treat children and other patients suffering from malaria and other diseases.
County Health Director Ismail Ali Kuku lamented that the hospital was out of service for few months after the outbreak of war in June 2011.He said shortage of drugs made treating simple diseases difficult.
Clinical Officer Hassan Sharif Mohammed reported that 15 children died in August due to lack of drugs to treat them.
He said the hospital run out of anti-malaria medicines.
Mr Sharif said people suffer from lack of food.
He confirmed that there are no means of transport to transfer patients to referral hospitals.
The two officers appealed to NGOs to assist urgently the hospital with medicines and food.
