The bishops and head of diocese of South Sudan and Sudan decided to reopen the theology section at St Paul National Major in Juba until the end of the year.

The Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SCBC) plenary concluded Monday in Juba.

SCBC-Khartoum Secretary-General Santino Maurino told CRN that the plenary decided to reopen the Theology section until the end of the year after the seminary’s library was transported from Khartoum to Juba.

Fr Maurino said the Bishops were meeting on Tuesday with an official from the Vatican and some donors to discuss the renovation of some buildings in St Paul’s Major Seminary in Munuki.

He said they considered the possibility to relocalte the Philosophy section to Busere, near Wau, if money was not available for new buildings in Juba.

Fr Maurino disclosed that plenary decided to have only one SCBC Secretariat based in Juba with one Secretary-General and not two in Juba and Khartoum.

The Chruch official said the SCBC plenary appointed a new secretary-general in their last closed session but they did not announce the name yet.
