People with special needs are not at school because they are not catered for in South Sudan’s new school curriculum.

Rejaf Educational Centre for the Blind Acting Manager Edema Ericko Anthony told Bakhita Radio that the curriculum did not include material in Braille alphabet for blind people and sign language for the deaf.

Deputy Minister of General Education Rebecca Joshua Okwachi said the ministry is responsible for policy while the ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare is directly responsible for with issues of people with special needs.

Mrs Joshua congratulated disabled people on the occasion of the International Peace Day.

She said peace was the sign of development and all must maintain peace.
