Tonj listeners are missing Don Bosco FM since Thursday evening after a lightning hit the station and burned some equipment.

James Guil Juma, the staff on duty, said that the strike happened after rains when no one was expecting a thunder storm.

He added that he was starting the evening transmission after the rain when a thunderbolt struck the station and damaged some equipment, including a computer and a mixing table.

Providentially, the transmitter and inverter √ɬê two critical and expensive pieces of equipment – were not affected.

This was the second time Don Bosco FM was hit by lightning. The previous incident occurred in June 2011.

CRN is making efforts to send to Tonj spare equipment for the station to resume broadcasting as soon as possible.
