Juba’s ever growing population is threatening the effective supply of treated water together with bad electricity supply and old water network.
Samuel Taban Longa is Area Manager of the Southern Sudan Urban Water Corporation in Central Equatoria State. He told SCR News that number of residents in Juba is increasing very much and it puts under stress the water delivery system.
Mr. Taban added that a problematic supply of electricity also contributes to the poor delivery of treated water in capital of South Sudan.
Mr. Taban mentioned that the water distribution network is very old and does not have a wide coverage.
Mr. Taban announced that the capacity of the current water system will be doubled so that it can cover at least three quarters of Juba’s needs.
He added that the water distribution network will be expanded as well.
