Medical doctors in Wau Teaching hospital Monday morning submitted a memo to the administration threatening to go on strike if their allowances and salaries were not paid within 24 hours.
Doctor Marcello Gabriel told Voice of Hope that the letter came from 18 contracted and under training doctors who were still waiting for July and August salaries. He explained that there was also a related grievance from the doctors on the Ministry payroll calling for allowances to be reinstated.
Dr Gabriel acknowledged that the strike was a serious threat to the Hospital.
He said if the 18 practitioners went on strike the hospital remained with 11 doctors on duty.
The doctor called on his colleagues to continue with their normal duties since the national ministry of health promised to pay the salaries in three days’ time.
