Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department or CID Anti-Narcotics Unit arrested two people at Nesitu Junction along the Torit-Juba road on Sunday suspected of smuggling drugs.

The two men were carrying seven bundles of hashish allegedly to be sold in Juba.

A document seen by Bakhita Radio says the suspects are being held at the Police Central Unit of Malakia, in Juba.

A police case has been opened against the two suspects under the South Sudan Penal Law 2008.

The suspects are under investigation and will be presented to the justice.

The CID Anti-Narcotics Unit arrested a number of criminals associated with drugs, money forgery and expired goods.

Last week, the court sentenced 120 criminals ranging from six months to life imprisonment for importing expired goods into South Sudan.

All apprehended goods were burned on the Kajo Keji-Juba road under the command of Police Inspector General Acuil Tito Madut and Chief Justice Chan Reec.
