CID SEIZES RIFFLES BETWEEN JUBA-BOR ROAD

The Criminal Investigation Department yesterday seized riffles and ammunition from gangs who are smuggling them from Central Equatoria State to Jonglei State.

Police spokesperson James Monday Enocka told the press this morning that the criminal investigation department personnel clashes with the criminals between Juba and Jonglei state.

He said the CID managed to kill one of the criminals and ceased the Taxi that contains the ammunitions.

Mr Monday added that in the Taxi there are two riffles, big quantity of fresh arms and ammunitions.

Mr Monday said the operation was launched based on the information received by the CID personnel that there is movement of ammunitions by gang from Juba to Jonglei state.

He said the CID department deployed the personnel to monitor the route and yesterday manage to detect the Taxi of the gang at Juba Bridge.

Mr Monday added that the criminal were eight in number but that the other seven escaped to the bush and the CID personnel could not trace them out.

He said the discovering of the ammunitions is a big achievement for the people of Jonglei state to enjoy peace.

He said the police will continue to pursue the seven criminals who disappeared into the bush, calling on the communities to cooperate with the police to curb crimes in communities.
