The candidate who is challenging Salva Kiir Mayardit for the presidency of the government of Southern Sudan launched his electoral campaign on Thursday in Renk at the Salaam Stadium.
Lam Akol told the crowd that gathered to listen to him that South Sudan needs change and that was the reason for him to form the Sudan People’s Movement for Democratic Change (SPLM-DC), SCR News correspondent reported.Dr. Akol said the SPLM leadership failed to deliver simple services to the people of South Sudan.
The SPLM-DC leader promised to provide basic and development programs if voted to power adding that he will make a comprehensive change in the system of the Government of Southern Sudan.
Dr. Akol said that security and stability are the first sectors his government will tackle if elected.
The SPLM-DC leader accused other parties of confusing citizens that there will be no elections because they fear losing positions after election.
Dr. Akol told the crowd that elections are part of CPA implementation and they cannot be skipped.
