VISA REQUIREMENTS CONFUSE AIRLINES

Visa requirements for travelers flying to South Sudan are confusing airlines operating in the country.

On Saturday, Egypt Air refused to transport two passengers without visa unless they signed a term of responsibility in case they were not allowed in South Sudan.

CRN talked with migration officials at Juba International Airport arrivals terminal.

One official said the visa arrangements did not change: any passenger can get a one-month entry visa upon arrival at the airport if he or she has an invitation letter to visit the country.

Well placed sources told CRN that the confusion started after South Sudan’s embassy in Nairobi issued a warning to airlines that travelers had to have valid visas to South Sudan before starting the flight.

Apparently, the embassy in Nairobi is not making as much money as it did since visas are being issued upon arrival at Juba International Airport.
