Yei River County Commissioner issued an order reclaiming government buildings occupied by privates following a resolution from the County Legislative Council in Lune of last year.
David Juma Agostino said that the Council Resolution stated that all government buildings occupied by organizations, individuals and businesspeople should be given back to the local government of Yei River County.Mr Juma ordered grabbed houses, shops and plots to be vacated and given back to the owners.
He said institutions and individuals who do not comply will be judged according to the Land Act.
Community Resource Centre is one of the institutions occupying government buildings in Yei.
Program Manger Eric Moses applauded the decision as a positive move.
He said the local government is expanding and needs space.
The commissioner made the remarks Tuesday at his office during a meeting with institutions occupying government buildings in Yei town.
