The Evangelical Lutheran Church is training people with mental and physical disabilities at the Hands of Mercy centre in Yambio.
Twenty participants are currently undergoing daily trainings in various fields including adult Bible classes, English language, tailoring, bakery and other handcrafts.Deaconess Patricia Nuffer told Anisa Radio that the goal of the training is to equip people with disabilities with skills to support their families and themselves.
She added that the training is an opportunity to build the faith of persons with disabilities and give them the good news that they are part of the Church.
Deaconess Nuffer said this morning Hands of Mercy reopened a school for children with cerebral palsy and other special needs.
She added that the school has means of transport to bring kids and take them home.
The program Hands of Mercy was established in 2006 in Yambio after late bishop Andrew of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Sudan invited partners from the USA to help.
