Western Bahr El Ghazal state minister of Agriculture has acknowledged the importance of an agriculture show to take place on October 16 as an incentive to improve farmers’ moral and boost food production.
Lillian Rizik told a gathering of farmers from different payams and counties in the state that the exposition will display agricultural products especially the traditional crops produced this season, Voice of Hope reported.She explained that the food campaign will also help the ministry identify areas of interest for agricultural investment.
Ms Rizik said bringing farmers together from the three counties in the state will enable them share experiences and challenges.
She added that the five best farmers from each county will be spotted out in order to represent the state at nation level.
The minister promised to work hard with farmers’ co-operatives in the state to support farming activities through the extension of services to the rural areas.
Farmers from all the counties are expected to bring their best products for display and sale during this three-day festival in Wau town.
