A youth leader is urging his peers to stand united to control insecurity in Lakes State, advocating for community policing.
Lakes State Youth Union chairperson Apuk Deng Reec told Good News Radio that the youth in Lakes State should get involved in peace building initiatives, asking them to assist the government in the process of disarmament.He urged youths to desist from violent clashes in schools and cattle camps and cultivate unity and peaceful co-existence in all parts of the State.
Mr Deng revealed that youth delegates will be involved in peace building committees at all levels of Government and in the recent peace conference between Cueibet and Rumbek East counties.
The youth leader expressed optimism in bringing peace and security in Lakes State, grounding his confidence in the present collaboration between the Government and the youths that have already reduced violent incidents.
Mr Deng made these statements in Rumbek East County during his homecoming ceremony following the election as Lakes State youth leader last month.
He is yet to be sworn into office.
