The National Taxation Directorate Office in Western Bahr El Ghazal is calling for cooperation with the state taxation office.

The two directorates are operating as two independent institutions collecting taxes from traders on distinctive bases to minimize over taxation, Voice of Hope reported.

Director for National Taxation at Wau branch Abdalrazik Dhayia Jabena said the ministry of finance on May 9, 2012, held a conference with state directorates in which they agreed that there should be two taxation offices in the ten states of South Sudan.
He added that the National Taxation Directorate collects custom, business and income taxes from each state for the national government.
Mr Dhayia pointed out that the centralization of taxes collection was not welcomed by Western Bahr El Ghazal state since it did not attend the May 9 conference in Juba.
He said that although Western Bahr El Ghazal state was absent during the resolution, it cannot stop the implementation of the program agreed upon by the national government.
Mr. Dhayia called on all the traders in the state to register in order to receive certificates issued by the national directorate.
Mr Dhayia reiterated on the co-operation between the two directorates for easy coordination of services across the country.
