Tonj Civil Hospital, in Tonj South County of Warrap State, registered five new cases of HIV infections this month.

The results came after county health officials obliged those running restaurants, tea places and food stalls to be tested for HIV, Don Bosco FM reported.

Peter Deng Kuch – who runs the hospital – announced today that among 183 people tested so far for HIV, five were positive.

He said many people are still coming for tests.

Dr Deng added that the hospital tested also for Tuberculosis and other diseases.

He said the hospital staff is advising those who tested positive not to feel victims.

Dr Deng announced that the Hospital is expecting the arrival of anti-retroviral medicines to help HIV patients to sustain their lives for long.

He urged the community to stop intimidating the affected members and help them to feel at home like brothers and sisters.
