A number of non-government organizations operating in Leer County of Unity State have appealed to the authorities to repair the key Leer-Bentiu road.
Eight NGOs wrote to the Unity State Relief and Rehabilitation commissioner saying in the last ten days heavy rains have affected badly the road between Leer and Bentiu and cut off the highway ten kilometres outside Leer.The letter says the NGOs based in Leer are facing tremendous difficulties to access Bentiu, the capital of the state, where they have stored critical emergency aid to distribute among flood victims in Leer.
The humanitarian organizations urged the RRC commissioner to alert the state government to the road issue in order to initiate emergency repairs in the badly damaged sections.
