Floods from heavy rains submerged parts of South Kuajok in Warrap State and the water destroyed crops, houses and schools.
Residents face shortages of food and medicines, Voice of Hope reported.Lukluk and Alel Tog bomas are the most affected areas: residents are prevented from moving and schools were closed.
Lou Tong, from Lukluk, said people are suffering and they cannot even cook because water entered the houses.
She added that people survive on wild fruits since the floods destroyed their crops.
Mama Lou asked the Government and NGOs to assist them with food and mosquito nets.
Lukluk school director David Atem Atem said the local school was built with traditional materials and needed to be rebuilt to withstand future floods.
He asked for a bulldozer to dig a trench and drain the school compound.
Chief Peter Mawen Akot said the floods destroyed all the gardens in the area.
He explained that everything is covered with water.
Chief Mawen appealed to the state government and the UN to provide aid to the people, including the promised mosquito nets and medicines to combat malaria.
He said people have to use roots because there are no anti-malaria medicines available.
The chief urged the government to look after the community because its members sacrificed their life for South Sudan to become a nation.
