Teachers who are preparing Nuba Mountains’ pupils for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education received some food aid from a NGO working in the area.

Director General for Education Kutti Ernesto Afjan thanked the NGO for helping the teachers.

He said the food provided is going to be used mainly by teachers to enable them to run the tuition.

He added that the food is very essential and that it will allow teachers to have their meals while they are coaching students.

Mr Ernesto said the NGO offered about 200 sacks of maize, beans and more than 100 hundred cartons of oil.

The education official said the food aid is to be distributed to a number of counties in Nuba Mountains.

Mr Ernesto remarked that the education remains the backbone of the nation despite of ongoing challenges in the state and that it should be treated as the first priority in order to build the community.
