The County Court of Warrap State on Monday condemned the former Commissioner of Twic County, Dominic Deng Koj, and sought from him financial compensation to Ajak Kouj community.
Nile Petroleum Company discovered oil in Twic County last year and allocated a compensation for the citizens for the discovery process, but officials in the county never delivered the compensation to the community.Ajak Kouj community Secretary of Foreign Relations, Diing Deng saidt the community decided to go to the court after all parties have failed to find where the money had gone. Voice of Hope Radio reported.
The Community Lawyer Agok Makour said that the verdict against the former commissioner represents a victory for the community and for the Legal system in South Sudan.
The court gave the former commissioner 15 days to appeal, but failure to do so, the court will enforce and execute its verdict.
