Warrap state authorities last Wednesday collected more than 450 shisha pipes that were broken into pieces at the Legislative Assembly.
The action came as a result of a local order issued last month by state governess Nyandeng Malek and passed by the Legislatives Assembly to prevent the use of shisha in the Warrap state.Governess Malek told Voice of Hope via telephone that the state lunched a regulation to close all shisha smoking places in the state because young people were destroying themselves by smoking shisha.
She explained that the young people should not adopt this kind of habit because it was not part of South Sudan’s culture but brought by returnees from Khartoum.
Governess Malek said the order is part of a program aimed at preventing negative behaviours in the society and to make the state a clean place.
She explained that people smoking shisha, using plastic bags or selling alcoholic drinks before 5 PM will be arrested.
Governess Malek explained that people – and especially youth – should not be idle, smoking or playing domino the whole day.
She urged all citizens in Warrap State to respect the environment and not to adopt behaviours that can destroy the nation.
