The South Sudan Human Rights Commission today presented its report of activities for 2011.
Chairperson Lawrence Korbandy said the report coves incidents and violations of various rights that took place in the country, Bakhita Radio reported.He said the report also presents conditions in places of detention, insecurity, abduction and violation of women and children’s rights as well the situation of internally displaced persons.
Mr Korbandy said the commission did not receive enough money to conduct its activities effectively.
He called upon the government to fund the Human Rights Commission and asked MPs not to limit the budget as it will affect operations in the field.
Mr Korbandy said the presence of the Human Right Commission in the states was very limited because there was no money to set up offices.
The South Sudan Human Right Commission launched the 2011 report in partnership with UNMISS, the United Nation Mission in South Sudan.
