Police in Eastern Equatoria has been empowered to handle offenders of election regulations with specific training and new vehicles.
Eastern Equatoria State High Court president, Justice Charles Oyoo, told Radio Emmanuel that the police have been trained to handle offenses during elections.Justice Oyoo added the Police received means of transport to act more effectively during the elections period.
He observed that so far there are no reports of election related offense in the state.
Justice Oyoo added that the police have been deployed to protect peace in the region.
Justice Oyoo appealed to the public to avoid violation of elections regulations to allow voters to express their democratic rights in a peaceful, free and fair manner.
Election offenses include inciting of violence, character assassination of individuals, abusive language, rigging, destruction of campaign posters and violent campaigns among others.
