Fifteen extension officials working for the Emergency and Response Office under the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio received bicycles and some training in order to assist the local communities to produce more food.

Emergence Response Manager Peter Paul Soru told Anisa FM that his office sent 15 workers for a one-month training in Yei to learn how they could help people to produce enough food.

He said the extension workers will get another two-month training in September to become skilled workers.

The distribution of the bicycles took place in the presence of Tombura-Yambio Vicar general Anthony Bangoye.

Monsignor Bangoye urged the extension workers to practise what they learned in the training in Yei to engage the communities in food production in their respective areas.

The 15 extension workers came from Maridi, Ibba, Yambio, Nzara, Ezo, Tombura and Nagero counties of Western Equatoria State.
