The newly appointed Minister for Agriculture in Western Bahr Ghazal state said today in Juba that the department of forestry is facing huge challenges due to lack of laws and clear policies to control logging.
Minister Lilian Rizig told CRN that she is now engaged in writing agriculture and forestry policies that should be driven from the national policy.Ms Rizig said agriculture is vital in order to boost the economy of in the country.
She wants to encourage women and youth to farm and create businesses out of agricultural products.
She explained that people can make good money from agriculture if they are supported with the necessary skills.
Ms Rigig said there is need to channel resources towards agriculture in order to make the sector work.
She said if money is spent in agriculture all over the country, the national economy will be okay.
