WESTERN EQUATORIA GOVERNOR RETURNS FROM CHINA

The Governor of Western Equatoria today returned from China to Yambio after a long visit to the Asian country.

State government officials, students, traditional dancers and civil population queued along the main road from Yambio air strip to the State House to welcome the governor and the delegation that accompanied him to China, Anisa FM reported.

Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro briefed the public at the State House about his visit to the Republic of China.

He said he went to China accompanied by four officials to seek support to Western Equatoria and learn from the Chinese whom he described as hard workers.

Mr Bakosoro said the delegation visited some Chinese companies and signed a memorandum of understanding on investments in agriculture, road building, mining and solar energy in the state.

The governor said the delegation learned that the key priorities for the Chinese are food and roads that prompted them to develop the country.

Mr Bakosoro ordered everybody to return to farming and work hard to produce enough food.

He added that by next year, parents who will refuse to send their children to school will face severe punishment so as to create good environment for education.

Agriculture minister West Logule and the minister for Commerce and Trade, Simon Ngbiidigi travelled with the Governor.
