Students of Juba University – who are still occupying the hostels – have given varying views over their suspension by the University administration after they refused to vacate the boarding facilities.
Vice Chancellor Agrey Abate yesterday issued an order dismissing from the University of Juba all the students who refused to leave the hostels.Bakhita Radio visited the girls and boys boarding spaces and recorded some views.
Jeska Ali said she is happy to hear that the University is going to reopen next week irrespective of the administrative orders to dismiss those in the hostels.
She added that her intention is to complete higher education and forget the name of the University of Juba for the rest of her life.
A male student who did not reveal his name said the Vice Chancellor’s decision to dismiss students was not valid because it lacked legal background.
He added that Professor Abate issued only an administrative statement instead of an order because there was no basis of such decision.
He said the university administration should compensate all students with 100,000 Pounds each instead for keeping them at the University for more than five years.
He insisted the students won’t leave the hostels because they have nowhere to go.
