Over one hundred Eastern Equatoria musicians are expected to elect a new leadership tomorrow, following the previous executive’s absence and inactivity.
Tom Flame, a local musician selected by the groups to spearhead the election, told Radio Emmanuel that the artists want to elect a new executive to guide them since the former members are dormant and absent from Eastern Equatoria. He said the previous executive died immediately after they celebrated their election.
Artist Senior Lyrical said the former leaders of Eastern Equatoria’s musicians did not have a Constitution and kept no files in the office.
He added that the former Chairperson whom he identifies as KingKong and other members of the executive have since gone to Juba and they no longer care for issues of the association in Eastern Equatoria.
Senior Lyrical lamented the absence of the musicians’ leadership saying they have missed a number of opportunities to present project proposals to campaign against issues like violence, HIV AIDS, cattle rustling, and domestic violence.
He said artists in Eastern Equatoria state could also bring their colleagues to perform in the state to raise funds for the association.
Silver X was the first Chairperson of Eastern Equatoria Artists Association followed by King Kong.
