Fighting between the Sudan government forces and SPLM-North rocked Abasiya County for the last 10 days.

The SPLM-North spokesman Arnu Ngatulu Lodi said that government forces set houses on fire and looted livestock and properties from the civilians, Voice of Peace Radio reported.

He claimed that their forces responded to the attack where one soldier from the government forces was reported dead and captured a land cruiser with ammunitions.

He also claimed that the SPLM-north forces returned the looted properties and livestock to their villagers.

He revealed that heavy fighting had continued yesterday in an undisclosed location of the Nuba Mountains with 46 government forces and 5 SPLM-north killed in the fighting.

Mr. Ngatulu added that their forces destroyed two vehicles mounted with heavy machine guns including Korean-made Jeep (Hakama) 12.7mm.

Pro-government militia forces continue to commit assault on the local civilians as fighting has stalled in the Nuba Mountains.

However, in the western region of Darfur scenes of heavy fighting are reported with the SRF shooting a gunship last week that was allegedly carrying injured government soldiers.
