ANNUAL INFLATION DROPS TO 74.1 PERCENT

Annual inflation is South Sudan has dropped slightly staying at over 74 percent.

The National Bureau of Statistics said prices between June 2011 and 2012 went up 74.1 percent.

In May, the yearly inflation reached 79.5 percent.

Food and non alcoholic beverages increased by 72.8 percent and alcoholic drinks and tobacco prices registered a hike of almost 228 percent.

Comparing prices between May and June, the South Sudan Consumer Price Index inflation grew 1.7 percent.

The inflation heat Juba by 2.9 percent between May and June.

Prices decreased by 8.3 percent in Wau and 1.6 percent in Malakal.

The Bureau says the fall in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages was due cheaper fruit, bread, cereals and vegetables.
