The NCP candidate for the presidency of the republic launched his election campaign Thursday in Upper Nile State with rallies in Nasir and Malakal.
During his speeches, incumbent president Omar Hassan al-Bashir underscored projects funded by the Government of National Unity in Upper Nile, Radio Voice of Love reported.The NCP candidate to the top office in the April 11 to 13 elections urged southerners to choose “voluntarily” for the unity of the Sudan in the 2011 referendum on self-determination for south Sudan.
However, Mr. al-Bashir repeated his commitment to accept the southerners’ choice in 2011 referendum.
Mr. Al-Bashir’s rally in Malakal attracted a huge crowd of supporters and onlookers.
