GERMANY DONATES 2.5 MILLION EURO FOR HUMANITARIAN AID

German ambassador on Thursday has donated 2.5 million euro equivalent to 3.1 million US dollar to the Government of South Sudan to increase its contribution humanitarian organization aid in South Sudan.

Peter Felton presented the money before the chairperson of the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, Peter Lam Both, Radio Bakhita reported.

In a press release, Felton urged the international and local humanitarian organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to all people in need.

He said his country will continue to support the work of the humanitarian community in South Sudan to save lives, alleviate suffering and preserve human dignity.

Mr. Felton called on the government of South Sudan to mobilize all resources available to address the issue of delivering basic needs to the population.

He added that South Sudan government should fully support the work of the humanitarian organizations.

General economic situation including the border closure by the Sudanese government and massive influx of the refugees from the Sudanese states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile have worsened humanitarian situation in South Sudan.
