A devastating storm on Wednesday hit Yei town and the surrounding areas damaging several buildings and property worth unspecified amounts of Sudanese pounds.

A classroom block accommodating pupils from Primary One to Three at Kinji Primary school was blown off during a storm that struck at around six o’clock in the evening after pupils had returned home.

The Headmaster of the school, Elias Kandus Emmanuel, told Spirit FM that the incident has left over three hundred pupils without classrooms forcing them to attend lessons for half a day.

Mr. Kandus said an urgent executive committee meeting would be held to seek ways of addressing the problem.

A businessman, Cosmas Luate who owns Global Technologies, was equally left speechless after stationery and electronic equipment were soaked by rain when the roof of his shop was carried away by the strong winds.

Several other places are affected by the storm including a kindergarten school, Yei Civil Hospital and power lines among others.
