The President of the republic of South Sudan has announced today that he is going to downsize cabinet and other work force to realize development in the country.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit told the crowd during the celebration of the first anniversary of the South Sudan’s Independence in Juba that the payroll of his government is the largest compared to other countries.

He said the government has to be small in order to have extra money for development.

President Kiir said the issue of creating more counties will not solve the problem of South Sudan now.

He added that the policy of taking services to the people has to be implemented when there are resources.

The President saidÊ some counties of the 79 counties in the country are operating under miserable conditions without headquarters and offices to qualify a county.

He added that if the counties are increased to 180, all Commissioners and their executive directors will need cars and residents which the country cannot afford to provide.

The President said people do not need to hurry, but have to wait until South Sudan is well off economically.

Many people in South Sudan earlier complained of having more counties and states to deliver basic services to people.
