Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Atsushi Hanatani told the CRN that the construction will start after detailed engineering plans are ready.
He said the actual construction works should start in the middle of next year.
The bridge takes about two years build.
Mr Hanatani said detailed design work for the bridge will cost two million US dollars.
He added that the Juba River Port extension costs 30 million US dollars and the new bridge 90 million.
Mr Hanatani said Japan’s financial commitment to extend the port and build the bridge will come later.
He said he said the two projects plus the extension of water network in Juba will cost 170 million US dollars.
Japan and South Sudan governments last Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding for a 52-million US dollars grant for the port and bridge’s detailed engineering plans and to extend the public water supply in Juba.
