Eastern Equatoria State Assembly has directed Health, Security and Law Enforcement committees to set up a fact finding team to investigate claims that traders are selling expired goods in the state’s markets.

Deputy speaker Paul Napwon told the press that the issue of expired goods being sold in Eastern Equatoria was raised by some MPs in the House, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He said the fact finding team will verify the claims and report to the state Assembly.

The Assembly will pass a resolution to be implemented by the state Council of Ministers concerning sale of expired goods.

Mr Napwon said the committee is tasked to start its probe immediately to report to the issue to the assembly.

The deputy speaker chaired Wednesday’s deliberations of the State Assembly.

The Assembly’s Committee of Health carried a similar investigation on private health service provision last year and discovered many expired drugs on sale in some clinics and drugstores.
