Yei streets are being readied to welcome the first Independence Day celebration in South Sudan.
Assistant Commissioner for Physical Infrastructure Goodwill Soro told Radio Easter that the roads in Yei town have degraded and need urgent attention. He said rehabilitation work that started today would cover a two-kilometre stretch from the town centre up to Mosque Street.
Another five kilometres will be repaired if the money is enough.
Mr Soro called on all citizens to take total responsibility to clear roads within the residential areas and villages to ease movement and transport.
He said everyone uses the roads either on foot or with vehicles.
An Independence Day celebration is just five days away.
