Malaria infections are growing rapidly in Nuba Mountains due to stagnant waters from rains that harbour mosquitoes.
Nurse A is in charge of children and female wards and nutrition and immunization program in a local hospital.She said that about 80 percent of the people admitted to the hospital are suffering from malaria.
Nurse A said that the disease becomes more serious if people do not take the sick person immediately to the hospital for treatment.
Malaria cases can be deadly of leave many children with brain damage.
Nurse A explained that the disease is transmitted by a female mosquito that breeds in stagnant waters and around homes that are not cleaned.
Malaria is the most common disease in the Nuba Mountains nowadays.
Constant hunger has contributed to its spread.
