The College of Medicine at the University of Juba has received over 500 books, a gift from the UN health agency worth 350 thousand US dollars.

The books were handed to Vice Chancellor Agrey Lemi Abate by the National Minister for Health Michael Milly Hussein and Abdinasir Abubakar from World Heath Organization (WHO) South Sudan Office on Friday.

WHO said in a statement that the donation comes as part of the mandate to provide technical support to training institutions to scale up production of health personnel.

The donation of over 500 books is one way through which WHO extended her support towards the development and strengthening of the human resources for health capacity.

The organization says it expects that the books will contribute to improved performance in the health system of South Sudan.
