The World Bank has approved a grant of 75 million US dollars for South Sudan Transitional Trust Fund to the Government of South Sudan.

Government spokesman Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press Friday after the ordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers that the grant comes after agreement between South Sudan and the World Bank Group.

He explained that the South Sudan Transitional Trust Fund will be divided for rural roads (38 million US dollars), rapid result health projects (28 million) and private sector development (nine million).

The spokesperson said the Fund will be taken to the parliament for ratification before implementation.

Dr Marial said the Cabinet also agreed to convert the Aweil Rice Irrigation Scheme into a public-private partnership though cooperatives.

He added that private rice farmers can also join the scheme.
