South Sudan ruling party is launching a nationwide drive to thank the people of the new nation for their sacrifices and support during the struggle for freedom.
Eastern Equatoria state SPLM Assistant Information Secretary Evelyn Lorot Lokorai told Radio Emmanuel that the party has deployed national officials to every state with thanksgiving messages from the SPLM to the people in rural areas.She said the SPLM secretary for information at the national secretariat Yien Matthew held a meeting on Friday with Eastern Equatoria party officials.
She added that the SPLM high delegation met with party state MPs, members of youth and women leagues and other officials.
Ms Lorot noted that the SPLM aims to fulfil three promises: freedom, peace and prosperity.
She said the country is already free.
Now is the time to achieve peace.
Prosperity is the next target.
The Friday meeting resolved setting reach out teams to the rural areas to collect the views of the people and forward to the national party executive for planning purposes.
