JUBA HAPPY AHEAD OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

Juba residents have expressed joy and readiness for Independence Day celebrations on July 9.

Bakhita Radio spoke with some people and got mixed feeling about the first year of independence.

Alice John Akaba said she was very happy South Sudan became independent.

She added that now people are able to get some services and students some scholarships.

Ms John said she was ready to enjoy and share Independence Day celebrations.

Samuel Omuno Thomas said independence was a gift from God to the people of South Sudan.

He added that though little was done in this year, great things are yet to happen.

Mr Omuno called on the people of South Sudan to unite, leave behind tribalism and corruption, and work together to change the country.

James Ladu said he was happy about independence although not much came out of it.

He lamented that many lives were lost due to negligence.

Mr Ladu said a lot is still to be done in order to bring real change to South Sudan.

South Sudan will celebrate its first Independence Day on July 9.
