JICA, Japan International Cooperation Agency, is singing today a grant agreement to improve Juba’s infrastructure.
The organization said in a press release that the money will be used to build a new Nile River bridge, and improve the water supply system in the capital and Juba River Port.JICA says the current grant aims to increase Juba’s water supply capacity by 2.5 times by constructing a new water treatment plant, laying 50 kilometres of distribution pipes, and installing 120 public water taps and 8 water tanker stations.
The new bridge will be 560 metres long with two lanes.
Juba Port will be extended to 233 meters with fully modernized cargo handling equipment.
