POPE BLESSES TOMBURA-YAMBIO FAITH CENTENARY CELEBRATION

The Pope is sending his blessings and promised special prayers to mark the centenary of evangelization of Tombura-Yambio diocese on December 12 in Mupoi.

The good news was given by Bishop Edwardo Hiiboro Kusala of Tombura-Yambio on his return from a five-week visit to the Vatican and to some countries across Europe to invite partners to the big jubilee.

He told Anisa FM that Pope Benedict is praying for the people of Tombura-Yambio Diocese and promised to declare Mupoi, the first Church in Western Equatoria, a pilgrimage centre.

Bishop Hiiboro said he met a number of European organizations to present the needs of the people of South Sudan and asked them to support of the Government of the new country.

He added that many officials challenged him with very well documented charges about corruption and human rights violations in South Sudan.

Bishop Hiiboro said he met with some airlines to make arrangements to fly visitors during the centenary celebrations in December.

He said Jetlink from Kenya and MAF International from Uganda agreed to fly guests to Yambio and Tombura airstrips.
