Teachers in Tombura County of Western Equatoria State started yesterday a six-week professional training to advance their skills.

Tombura County Commissioner Charles Babiro Gbamisi thanked the Episcopal Church of Sudan for reinforcing the teachers’ capacities with new methods of teaching, Anisa FM reported

He urged the trainees to pass the acquired information to the young generation in order to transform the society through education.

Mr Babiro called on the teachers to give good example to the students by avoiding immoral behaviours during working hours, especially drinking.

Team leader Mary Clement said the training aimed to equip teachers with a scheme of work and lessons plan to fully undertake their duties.

She added that the training will last for four years divided into terms followed by a national examination to evaluate their capabilities.

The organisation aims to re-construct the education structures through training to iron out some teachers’ weaknesses.

Teachers also learn some theology and have field work.
