Street demonstrations against austerity measures and high prices have continued for the seven day in Khartoum and organisers said more than activists 200 were detained yesterday after Friday’s prayers.
Yesterday night, protesters burnt a police truck at Dem, South Khartoum.A source from Khartoum, whom we don’t name for security reasons, told CRN via telephone at 11:30 AM that Khartoum woke up calm.
Later in the morning protesters took to the streets in Umbadda, Omdurman.
The source denied reports on Twitter that the authorities have cut off internet connections.
He said he was online without any problem.
The source added that activists said more than 200 protesters were detained following yesterday’s demonstrations across the Sudanese capital.
He explained that the protests started with few university students but they are gathering momentum and more and more people are taking to the streets.
