Trained ex-combatants have been urged to apply their skills and the knowledge they acquired during the trainings to develop the nation.

About 200 former soldiers graduated yesterday after a four-month training by IOM, the International Organization for Migration, at Torit Technical School, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Torit County Commissioner William Oyet called on all trained ex-combatants to ensure that the skills they acquired were not wasted by engaging in income generating activities.

UNMISS state coordinator Winny Babihuga advised all the graduated women to allocate enough time to their families.

She alerted the women not to allow the skills they attained from the training ruin their family life by dedicating themselves exclusively to business.

Martin Adot Opira told his colleagues never to wait for opportunities but always search for them.

Mr Opira, who was employed by IOM after he concluded the training as driver, remained optimistic about using his skills to help his people and the nation.

He appealed to his fellow graduated colleagues to seek for loans to start small businesses and create job opportunities rather than waiting to be employed.
