Elements from South Sudan, DR Congo, Central African Republic and Uganda, the countries engaged in a regional operation against the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), met on Wednesday in Yambio to share information about their current operations.

The key partners in the hunt for LRA members gathered to plan and discuss ways to arrest the Ugandan rebel leader Joseph Kony hiding in the region, Alina FM reported.

Representatives from the United Nations, African Union, Government authorities, the Ugandan Commanders and the Local chiefs attended the meeting.

Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro of Western Equatoria said the four countries are financing the joint operation to end the LRA terror campaign in Central Africa.

He stressed that it was high time the humanitarian agencies stepped in to resettle the people displaced by LRA terror activities in the area.

Mr Bakosoro urged the USA and the UN to train the armies of the four countries involved in the hunt for Kony in order for them to be able to defend more effectively their people.

The AU UN-sponsored regional initiative against the LRA started in March.

It involves about 5,000 military from South Sudan, Uganda, DR Congo and Central African Republic, the countries affected by the LRA atrocities being trained by US troops deployed in the region that also assist with intelligence information.
