The catholic bishop of Rumbek said the most relevant aspect about the speech the Pope delivered to the Bishops and heads of Diocese in the Sudan on Saturday at the Vatican was his remarkable ability to give his response to the reality of Sudan in a most positive way.

Bishop Caesar Mazzolari told SCR News in a statement from Italy that Pope Benedict gave full recognition to the “higher gift” of charity and service evidenced by the bishops, priests, religious men and women and lay faithful of Sudan.

Bishop Mazzolari added that the Pope outlined for the bishops of the Sudan the fruitfulness that the faith-filled carrying of the Cross has brought into its life-history as a suffering nation.

The bishop of Rumbek explained that in the view of the description shared by the bishops about conflicts and insecurity prevalent in Sudan, the Pope called all leaders, whether bishops, church personnel or leaders in society and in each family to live in the spirit of communion, which unites minds and hearts in obedience to the law of God and in the life of reverence to God in daily prayer.
